Kripalu Yoga
The practice of Kriaplu Yoga involves the traditional practice of hatha yoga - standing, seated, and balancing - to increase flexibility, strength and balance and breathwork. However what sets it apart, is that it prepares the practitioner to enter into spontaneous yogic expressions as he or she awakens the kundalini energy and enters into meditation. Kripalu Yoga, while well established in the West, originates from the Pashupta lineage in India, that offers powerful transformational practices. Kripalu yoga prepares the student to recognize the innate wisdom of the body and intuition through both spontaneous movements and the classical practice of asana, pranayama, and meditation.
Journey Through the Chakras
This seven week session guides you through the seven major energy centers according to yogic tradition. The Chakras are major energy centers that correlate to one's emotional and spiritual well being and development. When balanced the chakras support optimum health and happiness as well as access to different levels of one's own consciousness. Embark on an inward journey of transformation by learning how to balance your own chakras through sound, meditation, and yoga. Each class will cover one chakra, building from the root to the crown. This is a registered class only.
Hatha Yoga
This class is excellent for beginners, or experienced yogis seeking to deepen their understanding. Classes explore the classical alignment principles of each yoga asana (postures), while covering the basics of pranayama (breathing techniques).
The practice of Hatha yoga involves postures - standing, seated, and balancing - to increase flexibility, strength and balance.
Restorative Yoga
Relax. Restorative yoga is a therapeutic approach that utilizes several different props to support you in each yoga pose. Poses are held for up to 10 minutes creating a supportive environment for relaxation. Restorative Yoga helps to trigger the parasympathetic nervous system. This invites you the opportunity to release deeply held tensions accessing a deep state of relaxation. The PNS is responsible for balancing the body and bringing its response system back into equilibrium. Stimulating the PNS helps to lower heart rate, blood pressure; it helps to healthily stimulate the immune system and keep the endocrine system operating healthily.
Yoga Nidra
Yoga Nidra is a practice of pratyahara - sense withdrawal. The 5th limb of pantanjali's ashtanga yoga. Yoga nidra means sleep with a trace of awareness. It is a state of mind in between wakefulness and dream. When you practice yoga nidra you are opening the deeper recesses of consciousness. This is the ideal landscape to plant ones Sankalpa, which translates to, 'the yogi's intention formed from the heart and mind with great determination."
